~Edward Gorey~

As a childhood, I was watching a TV series show on WHYY (Phildelphia channel) with my parents back in 1980. At during the break from the series, Edward Gorey's animated credits came on at the end and I was like “Whoa, who did that!?” Ever since, I’ve always fantasy and admired of Edward’s heavy hatching with black ink drawing. They’re cartoons which I like very much. And that inspired me to create in this style.

I mostly use black ink drawing pens like Pigma Micron with the thinnest tip line sizes like .005, .01, .03 & .05. For the bold black line, I use Posca size # 7.

For the background, sometimes I use brushes dipping the jar of liquid ink

White Posca Pen is for highlights.

I start out drawing with a pencil (drawing pencils or school pencil #2). I lightly erase with kneaded eraser so I can see the almost invisible pencil lines.

With Pigma Pens, I lightly cross hatching all around the illustration then I overlapping the cross hatching in darker layers until I'm satisfied.
